DBR Staff Writer Published 19 February 2013

Lanka Milk Foods (LMF), a unit of Sri Lanka's Distilleries group, is set to expand the liquid milk processing and packing capacity of its subsidiary Lanka Dairies with an investment of LKR800m ($1.42m).

In a disclosure filed at the Colombo Stock Exchange, LMF said that the company's board of directors have approved the expansion project.

In December 2012, the firm group year on year profits surged 279%, mostly on higher dividend income.

LMF imports, packs, manufactures, markets and distributes dairy and beverage brands.

The company's flagship brand Lakspray is a full cream milk powder imported from the New Zealand and Australian dairy farms. It is available in various sizes - 50g, 100g, 250g, 400g and 1 Kg.

Other brands of the company include Ambewela, Daily, Lakspray Trim, My Juicee and Dairy Farm.

The company also owns two Sri Lankan largest dairy farms - Ambewela and Pattipola Farms.
