DBR Staff Writer Published 07 March 2013

Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan is set to invest $379m for the construction of three new Greenfield bottling plants in the next three years, as part of plans to meet increasing demand for its beverages in the country.

According to the Pakistani subsidiary, the three new bottling plants will be constructed in Karachi, Multan and Islamabad.

Investment will be used to expand business and ramp up infrastructure for the systemic improvement of the Coca-Cola system.

The Multan bottling plant, which accounts for more than 60% of Coca-Cola's business, will be fully equipped with production equipment and product warehousing facility.

It is strategically located to serve southern and northern Punjab, besides the Karachi's market.

Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan spokesman Fahad Qadir said that the Multan plant will have a much higher manufacturing capacity.

The beverage giant currently has six bottling plants in Karachi, Gujranwala, Multan, Lahore, Rahimyar Khan and Faisalabad areas, and employs more than 8,000 people in Pakistan.
