Aqua-Chem unveils vapor compression distillation unit for bottled water industry
Aqua-Chem, a US-based provider of evaporation and membrane technologies and water pretreatment equipment, has introduced a new largest packaged vapor compression distillation unit - BR7200 - for the bottled water industry.
This new vapor compression (VC) still has a capacity to produce USP quality distilled water of up to 7,200gal per hour.
Using the existing plant steam or built-in immersion heaters, the machine can generate make-up heat enabling owners to continue operation in the event of a steam outage.
Patented horizontal Spray Film process of the company will help in removing impurities and ensuring consistent distillate production through four elements of distillation - heat, phase change, physical separation and separation space.
Aqua-Chem pharmaceutical, bio tech and beverage sales director Ron Shook said that the 7200 is self-sustaining under normal operating conditions.
"The only energy required is electrical power to operate the compressor's motors, and instrumentation and control systems, as well as a small amount of make-up heat (via steam or electricity) to account for system heat losses," Shook added.
