ACM, Pactum Australia to establish $40m UHT milk production plant in Victoria
Australian Consolidated Milk (ACM) has entered into a 50-50 joint venture with Pactum Australia, owned by Freedom Foods Group, to establish a new $40m UHT milk production plant in Old Dookie Rd, Shepparton, Victoria.
The Shepparton plant is aimed at producing UHT milk to meet the growing demand from the Asia market.
The plant is expected to commence milk production in December 2013. It will have an initial capacity of 100 million liters. Later the production capacity will be expanded to 350 million litres over time.
Around 200 dairy farms in the Goulburn Valley will get support from the joint venture.
The UHT milk plant is expected to create 100 new jobs in the region.
ACM director John Hommes told mmg.com.au that the new UHT facility will have a positive impact on milk prices.
